‘A Fisherman’s Tale’ Is A VR Puzzler With A Miniature Twist

Vertigo Games’ first attempt at a third-person experience makes its debut at Gamescom 2018 in Germany.

Vertigo Games, the talented developer behind zombie-shooter Arizona Sunshine and turn-based strategy game Skyworld, announces its foray into third-person VR with A Fisherman’s Tale, a mind-boggling VR puzzler in which players must break the laws of physics in order to succeed.

Developed by Vertigo Games in collaboration with INNERSPACE, players step into the lonesome boots of Bob, an isolated puppet fisherman living in a cabin beside a towering lighthouse. All’s well in your miniature, waterside life until a breaking radio reports indicates a massive storm heading in your direction. With the help of an unidentified band of “quirky sidekicks,” players will have to scale the massive lighthouse in order to activate its powerful light. Upon exiting his comfortable cabin for the first time, however, Bob soon learns that the outside world holds more mysteries than he could have ever imagined.

“A Fisherman’s Tale is an extremely polished and charming VR title, and clearly a work of passion for its creators over at INNERSPACE,” spoke Richard Stitselaar, Managing Director at Vertigo Games, in an official release. “We’re proud to be in a place where Vertigo Games is able to contribute to the success of other VR studios, by supporting them in the areas of marketing and distribution and leveraging the network and expertise that we built when we published our own VR titles.”

Players will have their pick of reality-twisting activities to choose from, such as climbing the lighthouse before the ugly storm and completing a variety of VR puzzles, or just kicking back and playing around with a never-ending miniature model of your cabin/lighthouse, complete with its own tiny Bob’s which follow your movements in real-time.

A Fisherman’s Tale will be available to the public for the first time Tuesday, August 21st through Wednesday, August 22nd during Gamescom 2018 in Koelnmesse, Cologne, Germany. The full experience will be available for purchase later this year on the HTC Vive, Oculus Rift, Windows MR, and PlayStation VR.

The VR puzzle adventure was co-produced by ARTE France with support from BPI France, Ville de Paris, CNC, and New Media Fund.
