What an exciting week for technology, with the Facebook Connect, PS5 price announcement, Apple event and the release of RTX30 graphics cards! At Facebook Connect this week , Facebook has: Released the powerful Oculus Quest 2 , powered by Snapdragon XR2, and with a 4K display. Even Apple uses modified ARM chips.

The shape of the controllers is slightly different than the one of the Oculus Touch, though, and there is a ring that surrounds the wrist of the user. There is also “finger-tracking” a la Valve Index , but just for the thumb, index, and middle finger (so, it is more a la Oculus Touch).

The whole event was all about Facebook creating a parent company called Meta that is going to control all the products that until now were in the Facebook’s family, that is Facebook, Instagram, Whatsapp, Oculus, Portal, and all the rest. Ultraleap (formerly Leap Motion) has just released the fifth version of its hands-tracking engine.

In the end, it has not been Apple or Facebook, but Snap to make its first move in the AR glasses space. Oculus Quest gets v29 update.
