Apple now lets you easily move iCloud Photos content to Google Photos

Apple has quietly launched a tool that lets you automatically transfer all of the photos and videos stored on your iCloud account to Google Photos.

This will be especially useful if you decide to ditch your Apple-made smartphone for an Android alternative and need to move your media to your new device.

A few things to keep in mind, according to Apple:

– The transfer of content takes between three days and a week to complete. “We use this time to verify that the request was made by you, and to make the transfer,” the tech giant said.

– Some data and formats available in iCloud Photos — such as Smart Albums, Live Photos, or some RAW files — may not be available when you transfer your content. More information about this is available on Apple’s website.

– Transferring photos and videos from iCloud Photos doesn’t remove or alter the content you store with Apple, but instead sends a copy of it to Google Photos.

– Google Photos also has a limit of 20,000 photos per album. If you transfer an album with more than 20,000 photos, the additional photos are still transferred but are not added to the album.

– The new tool is initially available to customers in the U.S., Canada, the European Union, the U.K., Norway, Switzerland, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Australia, and New Zealand.

How to transfer your photos and videos:

First, make sure of the following:
– You’re using iCloud Photos to store photos and videos with Apple.
– Your Apple ID uses two-factor authentication.
– You have a Google account for Google Photos.
– Your Google account has enough storage available to complete the transfer.

Next, you need to start a request to transfer your iCloud Photos content. To do this:
– Sign in with your Apple ID at privacy.apple.com.
– Select “Transfer a copy of your data.”
– Follow the prompts to complete your request.

You’ll be asked to sign in to your Google account to start the transfer. After that, you’ll receive an email notification regarding your transfer request and another email when the transfer has finished. You can check the status of your request via this page on Apple’s website.

Apple may release a completely new type of iPhone in 2025
iPhone 15 Pro Max laying outside in a park.

The iPhone 16 isn’t even out yet, but that hasn’t stopped rumors about the iPhone 17 from swirling already. One of the latest comes from The Information, and it claims that a thinner iPhone 17 may be released in 2025 as a completely new addition to the lineup. It’s reported to be code-named D23 internally, and it’s expected to be a major redesign — potentially as big of a redesign as the iPhone X was in 2017.

The main changes for the D23 iPhone are a very thin body and a smaller cutout in the display. There’s also some talk that Apple may replace the Dynamic Island with a pinhole cutout, and we may see that as soon as the anticipated iPhone 16 launch this fall. Other changes might include moving the rear camera from the upper-left corner to the top center. The screen could fall somewhere between the 6.1 inches of the iPhone 16 Pro and 6.9 inches of the iPhone 16 Pro Max.

The iPad Air 4 in hand.

Apple has announced a bunch of new accessibility features that will arrive later this year for iPhone and iPad owners. Notable among them is the ability to interact with iOS and iPadOS interfaces using eye movement, which is something that's seen in a similar system on Mac hardware.

The company calls it Eye Tracking, and it's a system built on the Dwell Control foundations. So far, Dwell Control has been available as part of the Accessibility Keyboard on macOS, allowing users to execute mouse actions using eye and head gestures.

The iPhone 15 Plus has all the features that people love in an iPhone 15, but with a larger screen. However, there might be some reasons why you may not want to purchase it — such as its price and the fact that it lacks some features compared to the iPhone 15 Pro series.
