With a successful holiday season under its belt, Facebook was no doubt looking forward to resupplying its retail partners with more Oculus Quest & Rift S stock. However in a perfect storm of high demand, low supply, and on-going supply chain disruptions due to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), both headsets have been largely unavailable for purchase.

Update (April 14th, 2020): Updated to reflect a surge in 128GB Quest stock in Europe. Rift S stock is also returning to most countries, excluding the US, Canada, UK, Ireland, and South Korea.

Original Article (March 13th, 2020): Although it’s hard to gauge exactly when you might be able to easily pick up either headset in greater numbers, Facebook’s Oculus is offering both Quest, its popular standalone headset, and Rift S, its PC VR headset, in a number of countries around the world.

The bad news: Canada and the United States are still without stock on both flavors of Quest, as well as Rift S. We’re keeping our eyes glued to its retail partners there, including NewEgg, Best Buy, and Amazon, as they tend to publish arrival dates for stock.

The Rift S is currently available in the UK at Currys.

  • NooYawker

Looks like they’re are available at all three sites listed. Newegg has 64GB version, Best buy 128, Amazon has both being sold by 3rd party vendors charging a premium.

I’d be interested to know the status of Oculus Link cable availability too. It’s currently out of stock in the US.

    • Paulo Salvatore

You can buy any USB-C 3.0 cable. Oculus’ official website link to an Anker 6ft cable that works pretty good.

      • Lucas Cunningham

You sure can. I’d argue that the extra 10ft you get from the Oculus cable is important though. Most other cables that are decently long are also pretty heavy or require additional power.

I think that it would be interesting to see this column for more insight on how heavily their inventory is limited. The value of the specific cable is another discussion.

        • Linda

there are 10″ cables available for a very reasonable price. better than nothing. been using it for 3 months now. works fine.

  • Kaput

    forget it
    get on board this:
    https://www.nreal.ai/

    • It’s a different device, it is not a substitute

    • Scotty Myers

How bout YOU forget about it.

    • Moe Curley

That is a completely different family of devices. It will not have any of the capability of this headset. It will be a media viewer/casual gaming device.

  • Cool to know it is now back in stock. Also because VR may be beneficial to people that have to stay at home because of the lockdown

    • Caplico

Where is it in stock? I can’t find it anywhere aside from amazon where it”s overpriced

  • Obviously Now in the USA there is nothing. Except ebay where the 64gb model is now $520… Damn scalpers

  • AJ_74

The strategic shortages backfired, as right when they might have seen a surge in sales they ran into Coronavirus-related supply issues. Half-Life: Alyx might have bought VR another year before Facebook, Valve and HTC abandoned it entirely, but now it looks like Coronavirus might halve that time frame.

    • Andrew Jakobs

There was no ‘strategic shortages’, that’s bullshit. And bullshit that Facebook/Valve and HTC will abandon VR.

    • Janoriacorven Resident

Facebook just installed finger tracking in the quest! are you nuts?! they’re not only doing VR, but working on active MR as well!

imagine a stadium where everything is virtual, aside from the players and the spectators and what not, now imagine all sorts of games being played at a flick of a wrist. of a few button presses of the wrist.

That is what technology is going towards!

I wouldn’t try ordering from Japan. Incoming and outgoing international post is currently prohibited due to the virus. You can place an order, but there’s no telling when it will be shipped (or even restocked if it’s being restocked from outside of Japan).

  • Blaexe

Stock changes too quickly for such a list. There are currently no devices available in Germany, in contrast to what the table is telling me.

  • Kai Gannon

If you guys can report the price gougers on Amazon, I’ve done it twice but nothing is happening. They are out there but are being price locked.

  • PieRat

Where in europe, can I order oculus rift s (if there’s any) to get shipped internationaly (lithuania). yesterday i searched through a lot of sites but none of them seemed to have it or shipped internationally.

  • NoOne

The only rift S available here in Austria is on Amazon for +800€

  • DontAsk

The only Rift S available in Austria is for +850€ on Amazon

  • Elliot

Oculus Rift S doesn’t seem to be available here in Sweden. I’ve checked right about 9 stores and it’s unavailable in every single one. One specific store said that *maybe* around the 3rd of July it’ll restock.
