SAVE $39: As of April 21, new customers can get a third-gen Amazon Echo Dot ($39.99) for just 99 cents by bundling it with a month of Amazon Music Unlimited ($7.99). Your final total is $8.98, which is 81% off the combined retail value of $47.98.

Does it feel like Prime Day in here all of a sudden, or is it just this deal?

As of April 21, you can get Amazon's third-gen Echo Dot for just 99 cents (normally $39.99) when you subscribe to its Amazon Music Unlimited streaming service for a month ($7.99). That's a $47.98 value altogether, but you'll wind up paying just $8.98 — an 81% savings. This is the kind of Amazon offer we really only see around major shopping events like Prime Day and Black Friday, so definitely grab it if you're eligible.

Speaking of: The deal is only available for new customers (i.e., anyone who hasn't purchased an Echo device or subscribed to Amazon Music before). Also note that the Amazon Music Unlimited membership is set to auto-renew after one month, but you're free to cancel or change it anytime.

A 2018 release, the third-gen Echo Dot is a compact little device with full, decently loud sound and a built-in Alexa assistant that supports voice commands. Once you've linked it to Amazon Music Unlimited through the Alexa app, you can simply ask the AI to start streaming your favorite tunes. ("Alexa, play 'First Class' by Jack Harlow.") It's certainly not the latest or greatest smart speaker on the market — we prefer the Sonos One if your budget allows — but it's a fine choice for people who are new to the whole smart home thing, especially when it's this cheap.
