Meta Is Opening A Horizon Worlds Boot Camp For Developers

“If you build it, they will come.”

Meta (formerly Facebook) today announced plans to expand its support for developers with a new program designed to encourage VR world-building on Horizon Worlds, the company’s ever-growing social VR metaverse. Existing members of the Oculus Start and Oculus Launch Pad VR developer programs will have access to a wide variety of tools and support catering specifically to Horizon Worlds.

Those interested can sign up for one of several “Builder Tracks,” during which they’ll receive exclusive training for world-building on the platform. The Horizon Worlds boot camp will teach participants how to use the in-game tools provided to craft original games and environments, all while receiving support from Meta experts and seasoned builders on the platform.

Last year the company announced a $10 million Creator Fund to encourage world-building on the Horizon Worlds platform. As part of today’s announcement, the company is launching a $500,000 Creator Fund dedicated to the first cohort of builders. Those who participate will also have the chance to win various swag and cash prizes.

Developers who are already enrolled in either the Oculus Start or Oculus Launch Pad programs can apply for one of the Builder Tracks here. If you’re not already a member of Oculus Start you can learn more about how to sign up here. Visit here to learn more about Oculus Launch Pad.
