“Made for VR Arcades” title Pistol Whip Launches Nov. 7 on SpringboardVR

Cloudhead Games have set the bar high for Pistol Whip and have created a VR masterpiece with their upcoming action-rhythm first-person shooter.

To support the launch, Pistol Whip will be free on the SpringboardVR marketplace on launch day so operators can use that day to download, test and get their employees trained up and hyped about this amazing new title.

Pistol Whip will return to its .7c Price-Per-Minute Licensing on November 8th!

Over-the-top visuals, solid mechanics, and a stellar soundtrack by Kannibalen Records make Pistol Whip a cinematic symphony of violence and rhythm.

Pistol Whip is a shooter with rhythm elements and like any great rhythm game, each time you might do just a bit better or get the beat down slightly better, but each run leaves you wanting more.

Pistol Whip’s amazing soundtrack and visuals make each scene a thrilling, unique experience that is almost impossible to put down.

Shoot, melee, and dodge targets to the rhythm for a higher score in this year’s best and most anticipated VR title.

The developers at Cloudhead Games have created one of the best VR experiences to date which is a perfect fit for VR arcades.

No long onboarding process or steep learning curve, the user is immediately immersed into a world of jaw-dropping visuals and rhythm gunplay that creates an exceptional experience, for any level user.

Jo Dunlop, Communications & Business Development for Cloudhead Games, said that Pistol Whip takes the hyper-accessible action of arcade light gun games like Time Crisis and Virtua Cop, and combines it with the rhythmic flow-state of VR smash hits like Beat Saber.

“We have been analyzing the market for years and have talked to many LBE operators to learn what works and what doesn’t, Dunlop said. “We wanted to develop a game that will work flawlessly in LBE while having extra layers of depth for the home audience.”

Content Acquisition Lead at SpringboardVR Hunter Lane said that while he’s played hundreds of VR titles and helped numerous developers tweak their content to better fit arcades, he hasn’t seen many that are streamlined for arcades as well as Pistol Whip is.

“With most games it’s obvious that the home users are the main focus and that VR Arcades are more of an afterthought,” Lane said. “Pistol Whip however is a perfect fit for arcades out of the gate. You can tell that the developers at Cloudhead Games put value on location-based-entertainment during development. Regardless of someone’s skill level in VR, you can pick up Pistol Whip and start feeling like an action star within moments of the title starting up.”

Since most people going into arcades are new to VR, it’s important to give them an unforgettably enjoyable experience that’s easy to pick up, and Pistol Whip does just this.

Users are given two options upon launching, tutorial or scenes. The tutorial is quick, enjoyable, to-the-point and skippable if the user has played before. After that, the fun begins and doesn’t let up.

Scenes are Pistol Whip’s version of songs, all of which have amazing visuals to accompany its already killer soundtrack.

There is also a fun customization station if users want to give their gun a little flair.

Pistol Whip draws inspiration from big-time movie IP like John Wick and Equilibrium, along with big-time gaming IP like Beat Saber and SUPERHOT, to create an amazing gaming experience like no other.

People say that “VR may be cool, but it’s not sexy.” Luckily, Pistol Whip has created an experience that is both fun to play and makes you feel like a total badass when you’re playing it.

The mechanics are simple but extremely engaging. Shooting with the beat is by far one of the most immersive and “flow state inducing” mechanics out there in VR gaming and gives Pistol Whip a ton of style.

SpringboardVR is excited to offer Pistol Whip on the platform and make sure you add VR’s next bit hit to your location on Nov. 7!
