Every month we sit down with Operators from across our network so they can share about their Arcades and some of their favorite titles for LBVRE with us! This month we feature Game OVR, located in Edmonton, Canada.

One of VR Arcade’s early pioneers, Eric and Steph from Game OVR bring a massive play space, great selection of rooms, and Canada’s first wireless VR experiences to the Greater Edmonton area.

With 12 stations and 5,000 square feet of play space, Game OVR offers spacious, immersive, and unforgettable experiences to their customers.

They are a team that is really taking LBVRE to the next level, so we wanted to learn more about their operation and what content is driving customers not just in their doors once, but keeps those customers returning week after week.

Q: What are some of your top performing titles year-round?

1) Job Simulator

“It’s great for kids and first-time players. Lots of people are familiar with it because of YouTube [and the] kids come back to play it again and again!”

SpringboardVR customers can add Job Simulator to their library by following this link.

2) SUPERHOT VR Arcade

“Especially with the new Arcade edition, it gets you right into the action and works so smoothly. A huge bonus to Operators looking to increase throughput. We have lots of kids play this the whole hour straight!! There is also name recognition… lots of people recognize the game from the Xbox version.”

3) Creed: Rise to Glory™ Arcade

“Recognizable IP [is a big influence to first-time VR users] and boxing is easily understood by everyone. Customers love the idea of boxing each other and it is great for couples and for office parties (who doesn’t want to punch their boss in the face?).”

4) Skyfront VR

“For a long time this was the best option for large groups to all play together and still a favorite for many customers. Flying around in 0 gravity [while shooting] and simple controls make this a popular game.”

5) Battlewake Arcade

“A great multiplayer title! We have been recommending this one a lot [because it is a unique genre and game is extremely well done]. Having a free month [to let Arcades and customers try it out] makes it much more attractive to suggest as well.”

Q: Sometimes great titles slide under the radar, can you share any great titles that perhaps people haven’t heard of yet?

ThunderGod

“ThunderGod! It lets people play as Thor!!! Especially with the popularity of Marvel, it’s a big hit. Controls are dead simple too. If you can throw stuff at Job Bot, you can play ThunderGod.”

SpringboardVR customers can add ThunderGod to their library by clicking this link.

Bleeding Hunt

“Bleeding Hunt (aka Bleeding edge) is a hidden gem. It’s short, so it doesn’t see a lot of playtime, but it’s a great Arcade game. Super easy controls and its non-stop action from start to finish!”

Q: In general, what makes titles stand out to you?

1) Multiplayer

“The future of LBVRE is social games people can play together!”

A FANTASTIC multiplayer title is Loco Dojo. Enter the whimsical wooden world of Loco Dojo and step up to Grand Sensei’s ‘Table of Trials’ to pit your silliest skills against (up to) three friends or strangers in this hilariously competitive cross-platform multiplayer social VR party game.

SpringboardVR customers can add Loco Dojo to their library by clicking this link.

2) Ease-of-Use

“If I have to spend 20 minutes explaining how to play the game, or going through complicated menus to set up multiplayer it isn’t a good fit for an Arcade. With several stations and employees, games that are engaging and smooth for customers to get in and out of tend to do better.”

The title that comes to our mind when thinking “ease-of-use” is Yuki, a VR bullet hell game. Put yourself in Yuki’s shoes, a space ranger on an intergalactic mission against barbarian creatures. Hold and control a spaceship with your hand in order to kill space enemies. Stay alive through every level’s completion and reach the highest score to make your way to the top of the leaderboard.

SpringboardVR customers can add Yuki to their library by clicking this link.

3) Familiarity

“Average consumers don’t know VR games, so they are looking for things that are familiar. Creed: Rise to Glory™ is a great example. Everyone knows the franchise and what boxing is. Recognizable IP is a great way to get people in the door.”

Another great title that meets the “familiarity” standard is Westworld Awakening. Set during the events of Westworld Season 2, “Westworld Awakening” is a narrative-driven, single-player stealth exploration experience played from the perspective of Kate — a host within the Mesa facility who has suddenly attained self-awareness and must undergo a journey of self-discovery to understand exactly what that means.

SpringboardVR customers can add Westworld Awakening to their library by clicking this link.
