Microsoft remains committed to HoloLens and MR

“The reports of my death are greatly exaggerated.”

This popular misquote is attributed to the author Samuel Clemens, known by his pen name, Mark Twain. This quote perfectly sums up the on and off-again rumors of the death of Microsoft’s Mixed Reality headset, the HoloLens 2. Again and again, without any sourcing or official word from Microsoft, reporters and journals continue to push the downfall of the HoloLens. While the use of the HoloLens is growing and entering industries you would not think of, such as entertainment and performing arts.

At this point, we are starting to think that a fake theory suggests that one of Microsoft’s competitors has paid off reporters to help facilitate the end of the program, or someone who does not like Microsoft is leading the charge against Mixed Reality and the HoloLens.

Microsoft has yet again shot down any rumors of the demise of the HoloLens project and provided clarity to their commitment to HoloLens 2 and the Mixed Reality program. Please see this official blog post from Microsoft about their commitment.

CraneMorley continues to work with Microsoft’s HoloLens 2 mixed reality team as a Microsoft Gold Mixed Reality Partner. If you still have any concerns about the HoloLens and the fate of the program, rest assured that the headset is here to stay and will continue to be the leading force in the growth of Mixed Reality. The Mixed Reality market is estimated to grow 42% during the forecast 2022 – 2027 period (Mordor Intelligence report). Please reach out to CraneMorley for any questions and concerns if you are a client or looking to invest in the HoloLens. We can even bring a Microsoft HoloLens team member to answer any questions you may have.”
