Digital mapping service NavVis partnered last Thursday with Magic Leap, a global supplier of mixed reality (MR) headsets, to enable enterprise-grade 3D mapping tools and digital twins.

The partnership enables the digital twin solutions provider to distribute large-scale augmented reality (AR) assets that recreate complex industrial and enterprise environments.

In a statement, Dr Felix Reinshagen, the CEO and Co-Founder of NavVis, explained that enterprise AR solutions opened the door to “greater innovation in the workplace” and that 3D mapping and digital twin tools were crucial to building large-scale enterprise-grade AR applications.

Additionally, he added,

“We’re experiencing strong demand across many verticals with industrial manufacturing as a clear front runner. Magic Leap is a world leader in delivering impactful, innovative experiences in these verticals, and we are excited to collaborate with the company to advance this mission and further enable the future of work”

NavVis’ solution can recreate real-world facilities like warehouses, offices, or factories for immersive remote training, guidance, and collaboration opportunities to dispersed and frontline workers.

NavVis claims its software lineup reduces operational costs while enhancing overall workplace efficiency. Additionally, the solutions promote the democratization of industry 4.0 tools for workers and managers.

Comprehensive AR Visualization Tools with Magic Leap

Currently, Magic Leap is supplying NavVis with powerful spatial computing hardware that allows clients to distribute mobile 3D mapping tools.

The Plantation, Florida-based firm is debuting NavVis VLX and IVION Enterprise on its hardware to new and existing customers. The partners are optimizing NavVis’ digital twin solutions to enhance AR tools for the automotive and manufacturing industry.

NavVis’ product provides companies with exhaustive AR visualization tools that generate photorealistic digital twins. The firms will initially focus on the manufacturing sector before expanding the solutions to broader enterprise clients.

According to the company, its AR toolkit creates 3D renders of workplace environments at an “unprecedented speed and scale.” Magic Leap’s interoperable hardware enables Metaverse and MR opportunities powered by NavVis.

Magic Leap CEO Peggy Johnson said that the technology partnership provided “high-quality, large-scale, and novel AR experiences that business users demand.”

She continued, stating,

“We are seeing significant demand for digital twin solutions from our enterprise customer base and are thrilled to partner with NavVis to make our shared vision for large-scale AR applications a reality”

The Magic Leap 2 device provides crucial real-time scanning and localization features that, when combined with NavVis’ software, allow workers to pre-map and deploy large-scale digital twins.
