One of the first accessories for AR/VR I had the opportunity to work on is the Leap Motion hands tracking controller : I made some cool experiments and prototypes with it and the Oculus Rift DK2. Probably not this year, but next one or in 2021… but it will happen. In all of this, someone has created the design for a Leap Motion mount for the Index that exploits the frunk. By 2021, 120 cities (22% of population) will be covered by 5G. So, don’t panic. AR is still alive, Apple will still release its AR glasses.

In particular, the ones by Panasonic that were so popular at CES 2020 , are going to be released in 2021. All the ones that have been announced are going to be released in the next 12 months. 5G is a hot topic for XR glasses, and the new Snapdragon XR2 should let many upcoming standalone headsets connect to fast 5G networks.

Also, Leap Motion tracking or the mixed reality cameras of Varjo XR-3 are not part of this model. The first shipping batch will happen at the end of 2021. But apart from these missing special features, Varjo has designed a headset with the best characteristics you can find on the market. Personal commentary.
