‘The Climb 2’ Scales Its Way Onto Oculus Quest This March

Grab your climbing chalk and get ready for a new set of vertigo-inducing challenges.

Originally announced last year at Facebook Connect 2020, Oculus this week confirmed that The Climb 2, the direct follow-up to 2016’s The Climb, will be arriving next month on Oculus Quest and Oculus Quest 2 headsets.

Developed by Crytek (Robinson: The Journey, Crysis), the upcoming sequel will expand upon the original experience with new dynamic objects such as containers, ladders, ropes, and other essential climbing equipment that react to your real-world weight, resulting in a more diverse free soloing experience designed for both new climbers as well as seasoned vets.

In addition to the above-mentioned tools, you can also look forward to exploring 15 new maps spread across five gorgeous locales, including a new city environment, which promises a refreshing change-of-pace from the more natural locations. While The Climb remains one of the better-looking ooking games currently available on Oculus Quest, The Climb 2 appears to be taking things a step further, harnessing the power of the Oculus Quest 2’s Qualcomm® Snapdragon 835 processor to deliver some pretty incredible visuals.

According to Oculus, the sequel will feature a variety of accessories as well, allowing you to personalize your in-game avatar with 32 gloves, 25 watches, and 36 wristbands.

I really enjoyed my time with the original The Climb on the Oculus Quest and Oculus Rift. Thanks to some well-crafted map design, each level featured its own unique challenges, whether it be confusing path layouts or hard-to-reach grips. And then there’s the physical toll. The Climb is as much a puzzle game as it is a fitness app, offering a surprising amount of physicality as you slowly and methodically move from grip to grip, all the while working your upper body muscles. That is when you’re not standing there slackjawed as you gaze out across the many scenic environments available.

The Climb 2 arrives on Oculus Quest and Oculus Quest 2 headsets on March 4th. For more information check out the official blog update here.
