At Unreal Engine Build: Detroit 2019, Magic Leap today announced that the company will be giving away 500 Magic Leap One Creator Edition AR headsets as part of the recently unveiled Epic MegaGrants. Magic Leap says that developers building AR apps with Unreal Engine dealing in entertainment, architecture, automotive, healthcare “and many other industries” can apply now for a free Magic Leap One.

Magic Leap, one of the most well-funded startups in history, just took on a $280 million investment from Japan-based mobile phone operator NTT DOCOMO. As Japan’s largest mobile operator, Docomo is slated to be Magic Leap’s exclusive telecommunications partner in Japan.
