TL;DR: As of June 10, you can get a refurbished Lenovo Chromebook N22-20 11.6" Laptop Celeron 1.6GHz 4GB RAM 16GB SSD for just $60 instead of $100 (that's 40% off).

Kids are destructive. While they may want a brand-new MacBook Pro or fancy PC gaming laptop, you know better than to give them something expensive. For the young ones in your life, you’re better off snagging a refurbished Chromebook for cheap — at least until they prove they can handle something more advanced.

This refurbished Lenovo Chromebook N22-20 from 2016 is a great starter laptop (for adults too!). And it’ll only cost you $59.99. That’s 40% off its current retail value and 74% off its original MSRP ($230).

This model has a 1.6GHz Intel Celeron processor, 16GB of storage (the norm for most Chromebooks), 4GB of RAM, and an 11.6-inch HD anti-glare display. It delivers a decent browsing and streaming performance and can even handle video calls on its 820p HD camera. It’s certainly not the most powerful laptop on the market, but it’ll get the job done.

More importantly, this thing is extremely portable and rugged enough to withstand some bumps and tumbles. It’s drop-resistant up to 2.3 feet, has a reinforced frame around the screen, sides, corners, hinges, and I/O ports, has a water-resistant keyboard, and a sealed touchpad to protect against spills. In other words, it’s a great companion for a rambunctious kid. As our friends at PCMag (which is owned by Mashable’s publisher, Ziff Davis) noted, it’s "a sturdy system that prizes utility over style."

The Chromebook is listed with a grade "C" refurbished rating. So, it may have some visible scratches, scuffs, and blemishes already on the outside, but it’s been tested and verified to be fully functional on the inside. And that’s what matters, right?

At only $230, the Lenovo N22-20 was already a great deal. But at only $59.99, it's practically a steal.
