Amazon will soon begin selling VR apps on its massive digital marketplace through a new partnership with HTC. While Steam generally functions as the Vive’s defacto app store, HTC runs its own VR app store called Viveport. But the partnership with HTC affirms the company’s growing interest in VR.

One of the biggest VR stories at E3 2017 was that Bethesda’s Fallout 4 (2015) , Doom (2016) , and Skyrim (2011) are all coming to VR this year. Despite its major role in the growing VR space, HTC’s overall business continues to struggle financially, posting significant losses over the last two years. On Wednesday, HTC’s board made the decision to sell the factory to Shanghai Xingbao Information Technology as part of an effort to return the company to financial stability.

HTC is reportedly laying off 1,500 employees in its Taiwan manufacturing division, something Bloomberg’s Taipei bureau chief Samson Ellis reports to be around 22% of HTC employees. HTC has been in financial difficulty for the past few years, with stock prices falling since their all-time high in 2011. controllers.

Noire (2011), the hit neo-noire adventure game for PC and console, is coming to VR in a series of cases taken from the original game that Rockstar says are being “rebuilt specifically for virtual reality.” Rockstar maintains its new VR game is “rebuilt specifically for a virtual reality experience on the HTC VIVE™ system.”
