The Staircase is back.

In 2001, Kathleen Peterson was found dead at the bottom of a staircase. In 2003, her husband Michael Peterson was convicted of her murder. The case spawned a successful documentary television series (also called The Staircase) and was dissected over and over again by various true crime programs. Now, HBO Max resurrects the story once more, this time as a narrative limited series examining Kathleen's death and the ensuing case.

Colin Firth and Toni Collette play Michael and Kathleen Peterson, with Michael Stuhlbarg, Juliette Binoche, and Parker Posey also starring.

The Staircase premieres May 5 on HBO Max.
