Germany-based customers looking to snap up a deal on Oculus Rift and Touch, the VR headset’s motion controller, are seeing one of the biggest price cuts thanks to German electronics retailer MediaMarkt. Normally costing €708 for both Rift and Touch, the special sale bundle has slashed prices to a total of €453.99 including VAT and shipping to anywhere in Germany.

The sale is only available on the company’s German site, and doesn’t appear on other international branches MediaMarkt including Switzerland, Austria, Netherlands, Belgium, or Italy-based MediaWorld.

If you’re in Germany however but for some reason don’t have a permanent address, you can also pay online and pick up the bundle in-store providing both items are currently in stock. It’s uncertain at this time how long the sale will last.

Although Oculus has done some serious legwork to get Oculus-Ready computers down to as low as $650, price is still a big barrier of entry for many people that would otherwise want to jump right into VR. When you factor in the cost of a VR-capable computer with that of the Rift headset and Touch, you could be seeing a price tag well over €1,000, meaning any savings in cost is good news.

US-based Rift+Touch bundles can still be had for as low as $600 on Amazon.com and Best Buy.

I am German and I bought the Rift a couple of months ago. Argh. For 708 Euros. Argh. Well… by the way, I read in another forum that the touch controller are already out of stock. Wow.

    • Mr. New Vegas

Buy here, dont unpack, return to the first shop for refund.

  • impurekind

    Nice deal.

  • Get Schwifty!

With the VAT on top the U.S. conversion would be $516.00…. pretty darn good to get the HMD, controllers (which are not easy to drop actually) and two sensors. Kick in a third sensor for say $50 and you have a fairly complete VR package for just a little over $550 USD. Not bad at all. Gute VR meine Freunde!

  • 589 when i looked at Jul th 15:49… (so no idea where the 453 comes from … maybe they changed the price?)

    • Xron

Check right side of the site. There is a picture of rift + touch.
Mit Touch Controller für insgesamt 449€ sichern! (With touch overall 449euro)

      • Funny. When i visit http://www.mediamarkt.de/de/product/_oculus-rift-vr-virtual-reality-headset-2148241.html (link in the article) on my Mac, i get 589 (checked in Safari, Firefox and Vivaldi). I’m checking from The Netherlands.

On the right there is an ‘Aktion’ with a button ‘Alles in den warenkorb’, if you click that one and go the winkelwagentje then you’ll see the headset @t 589 the touch @ 119 and if you look below you’ll see the 453,99 price.. Damn Damn Damn they don’t deliver to the Netherlands, because @ 453,99 it’s about the same what I paid for my DK2 on release.

          • Wow, totally missed that. Interesting combination, showing the ‘old’ price as well as an action price… Thank you for pointing that out :-).

          • Nisei

Just order it, choose pickup at store and drive to the nearest Media Markt in Germany.
I’ve just ordered one from the Netherlands and I’m going to pick it up in Papenburg which is only a 1 hour drive for me.

          • Andrew Jakobs

hmm that’s also possible yeah, sadly I have no time to do that right now, if it was in 2 weeks I would seriously have considered it.
            Veel plezier ;)

  • BeFe

Wow, now I sell my vive for 600 and keep 150 for switching to a new rift. Thanks :)

  • Meow Smith

Lucky them, at least the damn thing is being sold in their country, the htc vive is openly on sale in many New Zealand and Australian shops but the Rift it self can not still be brought anywhere here in New Zealand and i assume Australia as well.

    • Mr. New Vegas

Get from any amazon Europe, it will cost much cheaper in the end, when you check out they reduce euro tax, the whole package will cost minus euro tax, plus shipping plus Australia import tax, so eventually it costs just a tad more expensive than in Europe without tax education.
Live in Australia, Pay European prices.
I recommend to open Amazon UK, Germany, France, Italy and Spain and add rift and go through checkout prices and see which one gives you the cheapest prices, they all located in Europe but some amazons have cheaper shipping and reduce more taxes than others.
Thats how I buy expensive stuff

  • Tiago

I’ll be in germany in august… hope they extend the promo for 2 months :D

Could this be oculus feeling the weight of it’s recent legal problems?
