Microsoft Hosting Live Windows 10 VR Demonstrations Next Month

As we all know, the best way to sell VR is to show VR, and Microsoft is taking that rule to heart with its new Windows 10 VR headsets.

Job listings for a UK-based agency known as Wave reveal that Microsoft will be hosting live demonstrations of its new devices, made in partnership with companies like Lenovo and Dell, from late October. Wave is looking for a number of staff based across London to showcase the tech in a campaign that runs from October 20th to December 30th. Last week we learned that the first of these headsets will be launching on October 17th alongside the Fall Creators update.

Microsoft will no doubt be looking to rack up sales of its device over the holiday period, appealing to gamers with a range of apps like Superhot VR and Arizona Sunshine. Windows VR headsets used inside-out tracking, meaning the sensors used to track the user’s position in the virtual world are located on the headset itself, not externally as with the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive. That should make demonstrations of the tech significantly easier to set up.

When it comes to the VR experience, a simple trailer or on-stage presentation isn’t enough to communicate what it’s like to put on a headset. You won’t get the feeling of being in another place until you see it for yourself, which is why it’s so important to host live demonstrations such as these.
