Resolution Games, the studio behind Acron: Attack of the Squirrels (2019) and Angry Birds VR: Isle of Pigs (2019), today launched their latest game on Magic Leap 1. Called Glimt: The Vanishing at the Grand Starlight Hotel, the detective game arrives today on Magic Leap World for free.

Glimt is Resolution Games third AR game and was created as part of Magic Leap’s Independent Creator Program.

Resolution calls it “a captivating detective game filled with mystery, psychic powers, magic and, of course, intrigue.”

Talking to Magic Leap, Resolution Games producer Johan Donwill describes it as a “whodunit-detective game that has the player using a combination of their sleuthing skills, psychic abilities and visualization tools to discover the catalyst behind sudden disappearances at the Grand Starlight Hotel.”

Looks interesting but can we have this on a real platform and not overhyped and over priced Magic Leap. I guess Resolution Games was paid by Magic Leap or they have a death wish. Also, will we ever have a game with a male protagonist again?

So someone made what looks like a VR experience (i.e. not making use of AR) for a platform that is overhyped, for sale and a huge disappointment in general? Well invested money /s. Do yourselves a favor and port it to a platform that actually has users.

Edit: it’s resolution games? LOL. I guess that venture capital still feels warm.

Dioramas like this are much better suited for AR than VR. It’s not recreating a full sized world you walk around in.

There are lots of VR experiences from a “God” perspective. And you can see in the video how the user is supposed to get closer and thus is engulfed in the world more or less. It still does not make use if the AR medium which is my main point.

  • Resolution games is really prolific in the XR ecosystem. This game does really look good, it’s a pity that is available only on ML

I guess magic leap hasn’t found a buyer yet.
