Leap Motion Brings Hand Tracking To Ultrawide Field Of View Headset

A partnership between an engineering company building solutions geared toward professionals (VRgineers) and a leading hand-tracking company (Leap Motion) aims to pair up their technologies. The goal is to offer an ultrawide field of view VR headset that lets you see your hands more often than in current systems.

Prague-based VRgineers develops VR systems geared toward professionals. They are working on a VR headset with a “5K” display and optical design spreading those pixels over a wider field of view that is designed to feel more like the real world.

“Embedding Leap Motion’s next generation hand-tracking technology directly into future VRgineers headsets will allow professional users to interact with VR applications completely naturally using their hands,” said Marek Polcak, CEO and co-founder of VRgineers, in a prepared statement. “Having this technology is especially important for us because our high-resolution headsets allow users to see 170º horizontally. Now they can move their virtual hands throughout the headset’s entire field of view without losing sight of them.”
