From May 9th to July 6th, VR media app Within will release five unique CNNVR documentaries.
First announced on May 8th, widely available VR media app Within will be home to a series of VR news stories, produced by CNNVR. Each immersive news story will contain first-hand 360-degree coverage of several different events and scenes that are otherwise unreachable to the average viewer using traditional media.
While Within users must wait until July 6 to view the entire catalog of news documentaries, they may already begin viewing Enter North Korea, the first in the series, which brings users to the “heart of Pyongyang during North Korea’s biggest celebration of the year: Day of the Sun,” the press release reads.
An Ordinary Day in North Korea, releasing on May 23rd, will focus more on the day-to-day life of an average North Korean citizen while guiding users through notable landmarks and sites, such as the Korean DMZ.
Meanwhile, Extreme Rescues with the NYPD, available June 6th, will take users on a helicopter tour through the New York City skyline to experience what it’s like to track the NYPD Emergency Service Unit from the perspective of a police chopper.
The last two documentaries are Iceland is Melting (June 20), which will allow users to tour the melting glaciers of Iceland, and Toro Bravo (July 6), which drops users into a live bullfighting pit in Pamplona, Spain.

CNNVR was originally launched in 2017, and has since “produced over a hundred 360-degree virtual reality segments,” Within states in its press release. Users can download the Within app on most platforms that support stereoscopic video, including Google Android and Apple iOS.
