Facebook Adds Over A Dozen New Quest Games To App Lab

Gorilla Tag, OceanCraft, and War Yards VR are now available via Facebook’s experimental app channel; no sideloading required.

Facebook this week added over a dozen new VR games and apps to its experimental App Lab channel, offering Oculus Quest and Oculus Quest 2 players an easier way of accessing a generous selection of popular indie titles like Gorilla Tag, OceanCraft, and Warplanes: WW1 Fighters just to name a few.

Previously, the above-mentioned titles were accessible strictly through SideQuest, which meant having to sign up for an Oculus developer account and manually sideloading content to your headset. Since the launch of App Lab, Facebook has been working directly alongside the SideQuest team to provide players with a seamless solution for accessing experimental VR content on the Oculus Quest and Oculus Quest 2 while at the same time maintaining a certain level of quality for the Oculus Store.

The recent influx in App Lab titles could be the result of Facebook’s increased commitment to its App Lab vetting process. Earlier this week, Facebook’s Andrew Bosworth confirmed that the company would be expanding its current App Lab team in order to sort through submissions at a faster rate in the hopes of expanding the platform’s current offerings while supporting the next generation of VR developers.
