Some of the big box retailers have already published their Black Friday deals, but there are still a few to go leading up to the November 23rd sale. But before Black Friday and Cyber Monday even begin, you can get an awesome deal on a new Windows VR headset, including controllers.

Walmart’s pre-Black Friday sale has discounted the Lenovo Explorer VR headset and controller bundle by $220, bringing the entire bundle to only $180.

If you’ve already picked up a pair of controllers, or know where you can get your hands on some cheap, the headset alone is going for $140.

Both items benefit from free shipping, and also free pickup from participating Walmart stores.

Lenovo Explorer is one of Windows “Mixed Reality” VR headsets, which packs on-board positional tracking thanks to the headset’s optical sensors. That means you don’t have to set up anything on walls to give you the room-scale experience like Oculus Rift or HTC Vive.

It does however require an adept PC to run though. You can check out our guide here to see if your computer is up to snuff to run the same graphics-demanding games that Rift and Vive can.

Like all Windows VR headsets, you can access hundreds of VR games through Steam including SUPERHOT VR, Beat Saber, Rec Roomand much more.

You should be ashamed. Not funny. The devil is wicked and will lead to the fall of many men. He isn’t to be hailed or saluted. Anyway, this is a great price for a great vr headset.

nah you guys should be ashamed for believing in mystical creatures. lol but i love how fast we go from religion back to “this is a great price” haha

Awesome sale, though I’m not sure what it means… Lenovo selling out old stuff so there would be more place for new one or they’re giving up on Vr.
Ofc it might be that they want to make their Vr marketshare bigger, but kinda doubt it if its profitable for them to sell it for 180$, when retailers take their own part from the pie.

    • sfmike

Just shows what the markup is on this tech or, as you said, maybe they are giving up on VR as the billions they anticipated have not shown up.

realistic question, how was everyone expecting near instant takeup generation 1 in this era

        • Xron

Phones were updated each gen, and 3rd gen device from apple was usable enough… it took them 2 years to get there, from the realease of 1st iphone.

  • jj

for any of those complaining vr is too expensive, this is your answer. the explorer is cheap is still 100% capable of playing any game any other hmd plays. so get at it

I had the pleasure of using a Lenovo Explore, and it blew me away.

I own the Rift and I did have a Vive, the Explore is excellent, wonderful piece of tech at an incredible price point

  • Greylock3491

This sale has actually been going on for well over a month btw…
I picked up a Lenovo Explorer for $199 back in the spring and it is a very good VR headset and this price is pretty awesome…

  • WMR are always discounted!

    • G-man

theyre like the couches of the vr market.

  • Windows Mixed Reality headsets are always discounted!

  • Same problem here, VR cost is not an issue, it’s the GPU cost that’s killing the scene.
