Use your bare hands to battle waves of “robot-like extraterrestrial creatures” in this western-themed VR game.
Originally announced back in November 2020, Finger Gun is a wave-based first-person shooter coming soon to Meta Quest headsets. Yes, I know what you’re thinking: “Ugh, another wave-based shooter?” But here’s what’s interesting about Finger Gun. Instead of using your Touch controllers to interact, the game transforms your own two hands into a pair of deadly revolvers.
Think of it like playing a childhood game such as Cops & Robbers. Only instead of getting lost in your imagination, you’re immersed in an over-the-top western locale battling waves of rootin’-tootin’ robots. According to developer Miru Studio, Finger Gun will have you stepping into the role of Wyatt, a local sheriff with the ability to transform his hands into a pair of super-powered six-shooters. All you need to do is make the classic “finger gun gesture” with your hands and drop your thumbs to start blasting.
“As kids, we spent hours playing finger guns and imagining different worlds and enemies to be taken down. We saw the opportunity to bring this feeling back with Quest hand-tracking, and that’s precisely what we have done,” said the team at Miru Studio in an official release.
Finger Gun is scheduled to arrive in 2022 on Meta Quest and Meta Quest 2 headsets. Seeing as the game is built around Quest hand-tracking, the odds are slim we’ll see a release on other platforms. For more information about Finger Gun visit mirustudio.eu/finger-gun.
Since the launch of hand tracking on Quest headsets in late 2019/early 2020, developers have been having a field day building all kinds of incredible experiences that allow you to interact with the in-game world using your bare hands. Recent examples include hand tracking support for the competitive VR cooking game Clash of Chefs as well as Unplugged, a VR rhythm game in which players shred a virtual air guitar.
