ghost howls 4th birthday

The Ghost Howls turns 4!

It’s my blog’s birthday! Today The Ghost Howls turns 4 years old, making me feel a little bit old. It was August, 15th 2016 when I wrote my first post, accompanied by an embarrassing image with a flower downloaded from Pixabay. I had no idea what I was doing, I only knew that the marketing mentor at EIA Bartolo Scanavino had told me that “If there’s no known expert in VR, you should become that expert (and use your influence to give visibility to your startup)” and so I opened a blog to shine some light on my old startup Immotionar.

After 4 years of editorials, reviews, interviews and tutorials, I can finally say that the following one is a clear depiction of the big expert in VR I’ve become:

These 4 years have been an emotional rollercoaster, with some great interviews done (like the recent one with Robert Scoble) but also some big “No”s received by people and companies I wanted to talk with. I received a lot of compliments for my posts, but I also had my share of insults like someone gently suggesting me to put a cactus in my a** (really, one day I received an e-mail with just this text inside dedicated to my newsletter).

Managing a blog is harder than you may think and it requires a lot of time and effort. I’m keeping investing this time because of the people that my platform makes me meet… people of every kind: the enthusiast that has just entered VR, the startupper, the boss of the big company. What I love the most is meeting new people, and listen to their stories, learn from them, and help them. And among these people, I especially want to thank you all my readers for the time you spend reading my long wall of texts (yes, I know, I write too much), and for the support you have always given me. A special thank you to my Patrons that donate every month some money to me to keep this blog alive (and you can support me too by going to this page). A big thank also to Max that has helped me in creating the website where I’m writing now thanks to some WordPress magic of his 🙂

I also made a video message to thank everyone and propose a way to celebrate together

Every year I want to celebrate somehow my blog’s birthday, and this year I want to hear your suggestions… how should I celebrate this special day? I had some ideas like:

  • A little party in VRChat in the VRrOOm platform;
  • An AMA (Ask Me Anything) post on Reddit;
  • A personal post about some life lessons I’ve learned in these 4 years;
  • A long streaming of me doing VR stuff for 4 hours;
  • Me slowly rotating my head with a Vive Cosmos on for 30 minutes.

I also would like to do a super interview, so if you know some big names or interesting people of the industry (e.g. Palmer Luckey, John Carmack, etc…) and you can make an introduction so that I can ask them some questions, that would be great!

But I’ll let you decide! Let me know in the comments here or on my social media channels what you would like me to do to celebrate this big birthday! I can’t wait to have fun with you 🙂

Happy birthday to me and a big big hug to you all <3

Let’s meet at MatchXR in Helsinki!
