Journey For Elysium Releasing On October 31

Mantis Games and Cronos Interactive revealed their upcoming narrative-driven VR title Journey For Elysium will release on October 31.

The game, based around Greek mythology, will see you play as a dead man navigating the underworld and trying to put together narrative pieces to figure out how you died. As seen in previously released footage, the game uses a distinctive black and white style and features puzzles and light archery-focused combat. You’ll be able to ride down the river Styx, complete puzzles and collect keys to unlock new areas of the game.

However, in a recent developer diary, Creative Lead Demis Holvoet hinted at some non-linear elements as well, implying that certain areas can be completed in different orders. This works in conjunction with a mechanic the team calls ‘memories’, which are a type of puzzle that will reveal more about the dead protagonist’s past life and push the story forward. From the last developer update, it seems that you might be able to complete each area’s memories and puzzles according to what you discover first.

The game is currently slated to release with support for Oculus Rift and HTC Vive. Journey For Elysium will be available on Steam and can currently be wishlisted, however there’s no price attached at the moment. The release is only a few weeks away and we’ll bring you updates as we learn more about the upcoming game.
