Hot Dogs, Horseshoes & Hand Grenades Gets Gun Hats For 'Meatmas'

Our Holiday VR Showcase featured a sarcastic green hot dog called the ‘Gronch’ introducing a series of silly updates planned for Hot Dogs, Horseshoes and Hand Grenades over the next month.

The big reveal? Hats. For guns. Gun hats.

First released in April 2016, H3VR continues to be one of the most popular single-player PC VR games in early access after dozens of major updates by its developers at RUST LTD. The irreverent gun-focused simulation title with “a bizarre obsession with meat” comes with a number of full game modes featuring human-sized hot dogs called “Sosigs’ for enemies. There are hundreds of firearms and weapons in the title, as well as multiple shooting ranges, with more content being packed into it on a regular basis.

For four years running now H3VR’s offered a holiday-themed “Meatmas” update with this year’s edition kicking off with the first gun hats update later this week followed by “Deck the rails and fire a volley” on Dec. 6, “Hark the Herald Hot Dogs Scream” on Dec. 13 and “It Came Upon a Meaty Fortress” on Dec. 20. When you play rounds in the meatmas map “you’ll earn these fancy little gun hat crates and each one has a gun hat of varying rarity in it,” according to the Gronch.

For those unfamiliar with H3VR, developer Anton Hand and his partners have built a huge following for the VR game with strong community management and a healthy dose of humor. They don’t always give the community what they want, however, and in case you missed the joke in the video above, the Gronch tossed Hand’s least favorite gun (the F2000) in the fire despite multiple years of requests to add it. To do this, of course, Hand added the gun to the game to record the segment only to immediately delete it afterward so players can’t use it, ever.

You’re a mean one, Mr. Gronch.
