How To Fix Custom Songs And Mods In Beat Saber Using BeatMods

The recent release of Beat Saber’s first paid DLC Music Pack brought with it a ton of changes that rolled out for free to all players on all platforms — including PC. This meant lots of new features and a more polished interface, but it also meant changes to the game’s structure and files in such a way that it rendered existing mods and custom song downloads completely broken.

We caught up with Beat Games CEO Jaroslav Beck at GDC a few weeks ago and talked to him about the game’s popular modding scene as well as the legality of downloading songs to play inside Beat Saber without issuing licensing payments to the respective artists. As it stands, that’s not something it sounds like the developers will ever support in any official capacity and all game updates will likely continue to break mods repeatedly.

So if you’re left hanging and want to know what you need to do to get mods working again, we’ve got you covered. You might be familiar with our previous guide that walks you through how to originally download modded songs in Beat Saber, but that method doesn’t work anymore.

Here is the new method, which uses BeatMods instead of ModSaber, which is no longer supported.

  1. Download the latest version of BeatSaberModInstaller.exe (2.2.3 at the time of writing).
  2. With the game closed, launch the .exe, confirm that the game’s directory is correctly selected,
  3. Install the core mods (the ones checked by default, select extras if you wish). [the .exe may trigger a warning from Windows when you run it].
  4. Run the game and enjoy.

You should be able to once again enjoy your custom downloaded songs and also download them from within the game as well if you selected SongLoader.
