‘Gorilla Tag’ Adds New Canyon Map In Latest Update

Chase your friends through a winding canyon environment in this latest update to the popular VR parkour game.

Gorilla Tag this week introduced a brand new map that takes players out of the jungle and into a harsh canyon where only the most skilled wall-runners can hope to succeed.

Available now in Early Access on Oculus Quest and SteamVR headsets, Gorilla Tag utilizes a unique arm-based locomotion system to deliver a one-of-a-kind multiplayer VR experience that’s as brilliant as it is simple. Depending on the size of your party, players duke it out in games of Tag or Infection where they must use their gorilla-like strength as well the environment itself to evade enemy players, all in the hopes of being crowned last primate standing.

Unlike the original playground environment, this latest map ditches the man-made structures and branching greenery in favor of tall canyon walls, narrow passageways, and various other desert-based obstructions. As stated earlier, learning how to properly wall run is essential for those looking to last more than a few minutes in this percarious canyon locale.

To access the new map on your SteamVR headset, visit your Steam library and install Gorilla Tag from the beta branch. Those on Oculus Quest/Quest 2 will need to visit Gorilla Tag on the Oculus App and change the “Version” to beta before installing the game on their headsets.

Now when you sign in to the game you should see a narrow pathway extending from the large tree; this will lead you directly to the new canyon environment.

In addition to the new map, developer Another Axiom recently introduced an Early Access Supporter Pack on Steam. While the game itself remains free, those interested in supporting the team can purchase a $10 cosmetics pack featuring nine unique pieces of headgear, from a classy top hat to a slick pair of shades. At the time of this writing, the Early Access Support Pack is available exclusively on Steam, though the team hopes to release it on Oculus Quest at some point in the future.

Gorilla Tag is available now on the App Lab, SideQuest, and Steam 100% free-of-charge.
