‘Lone Echo 2’ Announced, Immersive Trailer Available on Rift, Go, & Gear VR

Oculus today announced Lone Echo 2, a sequel to the highly praised Lone Echo which was developed by Ready at Dawn and published by Oculus Studios in 2017. While the game, like the original, is expected only to launch on the Rift, the announcement comes with an immersive trailer available on the Rift, Go, and Gear VR.

Now a little more than a year after the launch of Lone Echo, Oculus today confirmed that Lone Echo 2 is finally on its way. An immersive trailer, available on the Rift, Go, and Gear VR headsets, shows that the game is likely to be a direct continuation Jack and Liv’s story, the main characters of the first game. You can download immersive trailer on those headsets, or watch the flat version below:

The Lone Echo 2 immersive trailer is seen from the perspective of Jack, and shows Liv coming to terms with a challenging situation arising apparently shortly after players last left things at the end of Lone Echo. Not much is revealed in the trailer about exactly what’s going on or how Lone Echo 2’s gameplay will or won’t evolve from the original.

Lone Echo received high marks for its immersion and narrative, and is often regarded as one of VR’s top titles to date; we gave it a 9 out of 10 in our review. The game is unique for its high production values while steering completely away from first person shooter action, instead focusing on threats and conflict introduced by the environment rather than generic baddies or humanoid aliens dispatched with hot lead or lasers.

Granted, developer Ready at Dawn has been working hard on Echo Combat, a multiplayer FPS component to Echo VR—the multiplayer spinoff that’s set in the Lone Echo universe. Given what the team has learned about mixing handheld weapons with the games’ unique zero-G locomotion may mean that armed conflict isn’t entirely out of the question for Lone Echo 2, for better or for worse.

I’m done with the series if they add combat to it. Lone Echo did amazing and didn’t need stupid guns. Not every game has to be a first person shooter. God, I’m sick of adventure games being destroyed like this. I really hope this is wrong. There are definitely some closed minded people out there who won’t play games without guns, but Lone Echo wasn’t one of them. It did amazing. Why ruin a good thing? The people who want guns have Echo Combat. Not every game has to be geared towards gun people. The more we do this, the less variety there is out there and that’s depressing. Adventure gamers deserve to have games too, it’s one of the most popular genres in VR, and there’s no god damn good reason to say adventure games need guns.

If you don’t like change, write a better opinion. Your post is littered with centralist pussy footed opinions. Not a single sentence in your post provides a reason WHY putting in guns in a game is bad. Gun gameplay actually adds variety to this game. Maybe you just don’t like guns?
      >Adventure gamers deserve to have games too
Adventure games and shooter games are not mutually exclusive. There’s no good reason to say adventure games don’t need guns. Tomb Raider and Uncharted are staring down at you in disappointment.

IMO guns should be just Distraction and not sole purpose of playing.. Guns are good distraction once in a while few shots serving right purpose while induce satisfaction of clearing threat, game should not be all about killing with variety of guns. Adventure should be adventure most of time.

        • Darban

You are sadly also falling into the same problem with State of Psychosis’s post. You do not bring up any actual reasons as to why. Why SHOULD they be a distraction? Why can’t adventure be running away from a mafia in a jungle? Killing enemies, exploring jungles, defending stuff all falls under the umbrella of adventure. You do not differentiate “adventure” from “guns”.

          • Darshan

No i do.. i said it should have little distraction of guns.. again ‘should’ is important here.

Distraction has no reasons.. its just added to kill boredom while just loitering around in worlds doing nothing.. Defending self is most primal feeling.. threat to self is sure shot way.. Guns are tool of defense. ok hammer or bow arrow or chainsaw for that matter but guns fits good in VR.

I think i have given reasons.

    • HybridEnergy

Well , they can do it sparingly to change up the pace but I think you are getting triggered to early, I don’t believe they would change the formula of the game considering it’s success. It’s just gonna be more Lone Echo if ask me.

    • PuckStar32

Did you ever try P.O.L.L.E.N. and The Assembly? I think you will like it.

    • Mikeman213

I honestly like the idea of guns, would feel more like being in Ender’s Game

  • HybridEnergy

Yeessssss! A lone Echo Sequel and not some multiplayer component!!! woohoo!!!
