A New Leak May Reveal Information About The First Game For Apple’s Rumored VR/AR Device

A new report shows a customized HTC Vive Focus controller and “crosswalk bowling game”.

Back in 2018, rumors began circulating that Apple was in development of a hybrid VR/AR headset. This past November a discussion lead by Apple VP Mike Rockwell during an internal group presentation suggested a potential 2022 release date for the mysterious device.

Now it appears as though Macrumors has uncovered additional information in a leaked build of iOS 14 that’s been making the rounds online. Included in the report is a photo taken from the build showing off what appears to be a customized HTC Vive Focus controller. This would make sense considering the company has already confirmed it’s been utilizing HTC technology during its tests.

In addition to this single motion controller, the report also details a “crosswalk bowling game”. According to Macrumors, the experience is meant to be played while waiting to cross the street. Users use the customized Focus controller to throw a virtual bowling ball at a set of virtual pins situated at the other end of a crosswalk. Supposedly the app can only be accessed by an Apple engineer near an Apple office known as “Mathilda 3” at 555 N Mathilda Ave in Sunnyvale, California.

In addition to a combination VR and AR headset, Apple is reportedly working on a pair of dedicated AR glasses that will compete directly against Facebook’s own AR headset, also confirmed to be in development.
