Oculus Quest Content Library 'On Target To Hit 100+ Games' This Year

In a blog post this week, Facebook’s Oculus division announced that the Oculus Quest store library is “on target to hit 100+ games by the end of the year”.

Oculus Quest is a recently released $399 all-in-one standalone VR headset. That means it doesn’t require or use a computer. Think of it as the first wireless room scale VR console.

Quest uses a mobile processor and runs a fork of Android, not Windows. That means VR games you may have heard about for the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive won’t work on it unless the developer ports it. Because mobile processors are significantly less powerful than a gaming PC, optimizing the 3D assets and code can take months of work.

Quest launched on May 21 with around 50 titles including Beat Saber, Moss, Vader Immortal, Rec Room and Robo Recall, and you can see the full Quest launch lineup in our list here. Most of those next 50 titles haven’t been revealed yet. We know that popular spellcasting game The Wizards will come to the platform tomorrow. Upcoming battle royale game Population One will land later this year. Shooter Pavlov should be coming to Quest as well.  Multiple studios, including those working closely with Facebook, have hinted at exploratory work with the system. With E3 taking place next week, it could be the first time we hear about Quest’s big upcoming post-launch titles.

Stay tuned to UploadVR and make sure to watch our E3 VR showcase, where we’ll be showing over 30 games across all VR platforms.
