It's Pi Day, and Microsoft is marking the occasion with a selection of one-day deals including up to 31.4-percent off Windows 10 PCs and accessories. The cut – a reference, of course, to the mathematical constant and irrational number that starts with 3.14159 and then just keeps on going – covers Windows notebooks from ASUS, Lenovo, Dell, and HP.

Indeed, four machines – one from each of those companies – are currently down to $314 apiece. The biggest saving is on the Lenovo Ideapad Flex 5 14, a 2-in-1 convertible with a 14-inch touchscreen and Intel Core i5-7200U processor. It would normally be $699, but is down by $385, more than half price, for Pi Day.

The Dell Inspiron 13, with its 13.3-inch touchscreen, is down $285 to $314, as is the HP Pavilion 15, with a 15.6-inch touchscreen. Neither are the most cutting-edge of each company's notebooks, but for the price they're a solid deal. Finally, the ASUS VivoBook Flip 12 has an 11.6-inch touchscreen and the smallest saving. It's down $35 from its usual price.

If you've more to spend, there are promotions running on other laptops and desktops – including Alienware's Area-51 – that aren't quite so low as $314. Still, the savings can be considerable. That Area-51 gaming PC, for instance, is usually $2,549, but today is under $1,749.

Microsoft's Mixed Reality Headsets are also included in the Pi Day push. Both Lenovo and HP have their respective VR headsets brought down to $314, for example. It's worth shopping around, mind. Sales of Mixed Reality Headsets have been underwhelming, recent reports have suggested, and retailers all over are slashing prices to try to spur interest. Amazon, for example, has the Lenovo Explorer Bundle for just $279.

On the accessories side, there are 56 different promotional deals covering Surface bags and sleeves. Microsoft has a wide variety of styles to choose between, from basic sleeves that carry the notebook alone, through to messenger bags and briefcases. Arguably none of the deals are quite as compelling as the laptops – and it's notable that the Surface Pro, Surface Book, and Surface Laptop themselves aren't included in the Pi Day promotion – but if you've been meaning to pick up some protection, today might be the day.
