Magic Leap Brings Star Wars’ Adorable Porgs To Mixed Reality

It’s like Tamagotchi, but in a galaxy far, far away.

Magic Leap made their fair share of announcements during their inaugural L.E.A.P. developer conference last week, showcasing an impressive collection of upcoming, as well as already-released experiences and updates.

From mixed reality board games, to realistic A.I., every corner of the Magic Box event space was packed with ambitious projects. Lucasfilm’s award-winning immersive entertainment studio, ILMxLAB, was also present at the event, offering a new experience that allows fans of the legendary Star Wars franchise to go-hands on (literally) with the galaxy’s cutest species of aliens.

Available for free this December, Star Wars: Project Porgs is a mixed reality experience for the Magic Leap One Creator Edition headset that transports a handful of the adorable creatures to your living room for what may very well be the greatest play-date in the universe. Players will be tasked with training their army of fluffy puffins on how to navigate real-world environments, as well as feeding them treats and giving them the proper amount of love and affection necessary to keep them acting so gosh darn adorable.

Whipping up your band of misfits won’t be easy, however. Thankfully, you’ll have the support of everyone’s favorite etiquette/protocol droid, C-3P0, voiced by original actor, Anthony Daniels), who will assist by providing you with helpful instructions throughout your time as an intergalactic pet sitter.

Star Wars: Project Porgs will be available for free this December via the Magic Leap One Creator Edition headset.
