gamescom virtual reality

See you at Gamescom 2018!

I’ve returned from China just ten days ago and I’ve still to recover, so I had this genius idea to travel to Germany next week to attend Gamescom!

Gamescom is one of the biggest gaming events in Europe and I will be there with my buddy Max to discover some cool virtual reality games and peripherals. Organizers have given us a press pass, so that I can actually pretend to be a journalist and interview all the coolest people. I want to meet some interesting guys and girls and have a chat with them about the augmented and virtual reality ecosystem. I want to seek partnerships for my XR consultancy agency New Technology Walkers. I want to try gadgets, lots of gadgets… the presence of Valve is confirmed, and I would really love to try the new Knuckles if they will be available for testing. And then I want to shoot some videos (Max will be fundamental in this, he’s a great video maker) and write some articles regarding what I’ll experience in these days. I want to learn a lot, have fun and report everything to you so that it will seem that you’ve been there with me!

And if you can… why don’t you spend really some time with me? If you are a VR enthusiast, a VR company or a VR Scarlett Johansson and you want to meet me, let’s get to know each other! I would be really happy to know you (especially if you are Scarlett Johansson) and to chat about you, what you are doing in your life and exchange our opinions regarding AR and VR topics. And if you are a software or hardware XR company, I could also interview you and report everything in my blog. It would be funny and interesting at the same time.

So, if you are going to Gamescom, contact me with whatever means and let’s schedule an appointment. And if you’re not going, don’t worry… we’ll have other opportunities. You can still follow my adventures on my blog and social media channels.

See you there!

  1. Have fun at Gamescom…great to make contact with Valve, happy hunting 👍

I’ve been invited to speak about “human ergonomics in immersive computing” at Eurogamer in Birmingham, UK in September, time to write a speech 🤯

      1. Thanks for your kind words…I’m hoping to bring a different discussion to the event with a focus on the human.

I feel at times we focus on tech…tech…tech; whether resolution, fov, tracking, runtime, application, etc.

But, how does your headset “feel”? Is it comfortable? Do you get pressure points? A sore nose? Is it too hot? Do the controllers fit well in your hands? Do you find it hard to reach buttons? Do your controllers slip when sweaty? Are your eyes sore? Why is 1 eye in focus, the other eye slightly out of focus?

        1. It’s really a great topic. I’ll be brave and I’ll ask you: apart from the paper, could you also be interested in writing an article for my blog on that topic? It seems a very interesting one and you are an expert in the field, I think you can help in having more people getting interest in this problem…

          1. that would be a pleasure, and help me prepare for Eurogamer…i’ve been crazy busy and not preparing…its sneaking up on me!

          2. Wow, great! If you’re practical with WordPress, I can add you as a writer and you can write directly into my website… otherwise, a Word document + the pictures files are enough. What do you prefer?

          3. WOOW. I can’t wait to read all your considerations on ergonomics! Send me an e-mail when you’re done (tonyvt AT skarredghost DOT com), I want to publish it after the Gamescom!
