HTC Vive VR Red Alert 2 remake uses Unreal Engine

As it is with most new gaming devices, how fast the device is adopted by the public depends on many things from pricing to the available games. The HTC Vive and other VR headsets are appealing , but not quite to the stage yet where the gaming masses are ready to play. One of the things that could get gamers ready to buy is a sweet game that makes you really want to play.

This is where this slick new port of Red Alert 2 comes in. Red Alert 2 as a game has been around for a long time. This proof of concept VR RTS game was built using the Unreal Engine 4 and is based on the original Red Alert 2 video game. The game is using the HTC Vive in room scale mode.

The gameplay looks as if you are a commander standing at a massive table controlling your troops and ordering them to build things. It looks fantastic and if you are into RTS games, you will definitely want to play this. I'd love to see Civ 6 on a VR headset.

This proof of concept game could be enough to push gamers to buy a headset and we hope to see some actual games published that look like this. The video spans 8:52 seconds and RTS fans will want to watch.
